Adjustments to prices

This page will let you know what to expect when it comes to EDI prices. There may be unusual circumstances wherein EDI will quote more or less for a given service.

The prices we quote are fixed. If the value or scope of the project changes, we are happy to provide a new quote.

EDI sometimes provides first-time discounts to new customers, which cover the scope of an initial project. EDI offers these discounts only occasionally, at its own discretion.

Instructional design

We are experts in the use of plain language, and in instructional design. Using those skills, we:

Prepare and deliver training in the use of plain language, so that your people write clearly enough to be understood the very first time someone reads what they’ve written.
Help you prepare high-quality training through the use of research and instructional design best practices.

We usually have to provide estimates on a project-by-project basis, since the effort and results required vary so widely from project to project. If we do not have a defined scope of work for a project, the cost is $100 per hour.

Proofreading

This is for when the text simply needs a few tweaks, such as fixing typos.

Editing

This is for when the text needs a bit more work in order to be useful. There may be a good number of grammatical problems, or many issues with formatting.

Deep editing/rewriting

This is for when the current content needs to be completely reworked in order to for it to meet professional standards. Proofreading or moderate editing will not fix the inherent problems in the text.

Writing from scratch

This is for when we will need to perform interviews or research in order to create new information.

Process facilitation

This is for situations in which you need a competent professional to guide your group through a series of process improvement discussions.

We prefer to work with you to determine the value of the project, and therefore what you should pay us. In cases where that is not an option, the cost is $100 per hour.

Technography/scribing

This is for situations in which you need someone to take notes and organize the information before, during, and after a meeting or series of meetings.

We prefer to work with you to determine the value of the project, and therefore what you should pay us. In cases where that is not an option, the cost is $60 per hour.

Documentation project management

You may need someone to manage a large-scale documentation project. We can handle any or all of the planning, research, writing, reviewing, and publishing.
